PPTP VPN not connecting



Ever encounter connecting PPTP VPN from a Ruckus router or other new routers but VPN keep on failing? Or does not connect at all.

However, if you test the VPN outside the network of the Ruckus router or use another Wi-Fi Router the VPN goes through and able to connect.

One reason is the Wi-Fi router does not allow the unsecure PPTP VPN protocol to pass through. The firmware filters the PPTP traffic.

PPTP VPN has quite a few vulnerabilities and some Wi-Fi router does not allow this protocol to pass through for some obvious reason, because it could compromise the network security.

Solution is to select another VPN protocol that is supported by the Wi-Fi router and is considered a secure protocol. 

To easily troubleshoot whether it’s the Wi-Fi router that is filtering the VPN protocol, is to grab some old Wi-Fi router if ever you have some that is just lying around and collecting dust.

And check whether VPN goes through. If it goes through, then the firmware of the problematic Wi-Fi router doesn’t allow PPTP. If the firmware of the Wi-Fi router allows downgrade to a firmware version that supports PPTP then it could be a choice but of course this is not a good approach.

Notepad++ convert multiple lines to a single line and vice versa

Notepad++ is an awesome text editing tool, it can accept regex to process the text data. If the data is in a “.csv” format or comma separated values which is basically just a text file that can either be opened using a text editor, excel or even word. Notepad++ can process the contents of the file using regex. Example if the data has multiple rows or lines, and what is needed is to convert the whole lines of data into a single line. Print error 016-799 - Fuji Film Xerox

016-799 Fuji Xerox or Fuji Film print error code. That shows a description error as “Print instruction Fail detected in decomposer.” The error code and error description are alien languages for users and even system administrators who are not familiar with Fuji Xerox error code.
